“Paperback Trash is the musical project of South London based songwriter/ producer Chris Roberts. Drawing on influences of 60`s psychedelia, post-punk and noise rock, his gloomy compositions hold up a terrible mirror to uncertain times.
The debut single “Drifter Sleeps” is a paean to living life the wrong way, finding love and pain in an unforgiving world, and enjoying every second. Much like existence itself, you might think you know where this song is going, but you’ll find yourself pleasantly wrong.
“Drifter Sleeps” is the first single from the album “Silver Moon City Blues”, a brooding journey through a cursed, rain-soaked city in perpetual night. The album explores themes of hope and desolation in a world on the brink of despair, humanity’s relationship with nature, late-stage capitalism, isolation in an online world, misinformation and the deification of cult-like celebrity, wrapped in a schlocky b-movie narrative. The album will be released in the spring of 2024.”
In a bold move to diversify the sonic landscape of his latest release, Chris Roberts introduces three electrifying remixes to complement the original mix. Blakk Habit, the revered maestro of UK garage, brings his signature flair to the table with a dynamic UK garage mix that’s bound to set dance floors ablaze. Following suit, Cellardore injects a fresh perspective into the mix with a house rendition that pulses with infectious energy. Not to be outdone, Dope Ammo, the esteemed Don of contemporary drum and bass, ignites the track with pure unadulterated drum and bass heat, promising listeners an exhilarating musical journey like no other. With these diverse remixes, Chris Roberts invites audiences to experience his music through a kaleidoscope of genres, ensuring there’s something for every discerning ear.
