Legendary original UK Garage artist Memzee is reborn with this special release.
Underground Garage dons FRD Productions and soul-charged breakthrough artist Japha bring you vocals from unreleased sessions from the ’90s and a brand new track — both with remixes you just cannot miss.
This is Memzee: The Vault and Rebirth.
The FRD guys at DRP Studios in the ’90s saw to it that moments of Garage history were made under their watch. Fuzzbuzz, Rico Fernandez and Dolomite were known for their work together and their productions with others — but also for hosting many sessions at the studio that made a lot of noise. One artist that was often present: Memzee.
Tracks that FRD and Memzee made together like ‘Give It Up’ and ‘Funky Love’ are well-known to underground Garage polymaths, but Memzee’s work with MJ Cole — like ‘Comin’ at Ya’ and ‘Said it’s Comin’’ — was also created at DRP Studios.
Recently, FRD stumbled across something special in their possession: previously unreleased Memzee vocals from one of those ’90s sessions, with his trademark soulfulness all over them. They got inspired. They got to work.
‘Touch The Sky – FRD Original Mix’ brings back the sounds that people fell in love with in those original Garage days.
With this release, DRP Music also introduces artist Japha, who co-produced the ‘Touch The Sky – Stompin’ Mix’ alongside FRD and also wrote and produced the brand new track ‘Dizzy’ — an adult contemporary Garage track with a laid-back, soulful vibe for Memzee.
The ‘Dizzy’ Dub Mix brings the classic energy of a 2-Step Dub, perfect for the club dancefloor.
When he was a child, Japha was also present in the DRP Studios… but that’s another story.
